He will be 94 on 29 Aug, 2013. He lives in Riverside, RI, originally from Pawtucket, RI. Inducted 31 March 1942, arrived home about 5 or 6 days before Christmas 1945. He raised the 1st American flag at Asahigawa, Hokkaido, Japan with the 2 men left with him by the occupying Captain. The Captain had left with the rest of my uncles platoon for the city to convey occupation instructions. E Company relieved him of his command on the camp about 3 hours later.<br />tomlutz@outlook.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7164662116959102197.post-65342903010471150372012-12-11T16:44:02.522-05:002012-12-11T16:44:02.522-05:00The diary entries of May 17 and 18 regarding E Co ...The diary entries of May 17 and 18 regarding E Co 307th on Ishimmi Ridge connect us as extended family. My step father was with the 307 E co on Ishimmi Ridge. His memories will be featured in The Military Channel's, Ultimate Warfare series episode 8, scheduled to air February 2013. Since I started seeking surviving 77th Division veterans, our network has grown to four survivors that communicate back and forth like the brothers they are almost seventy years later.
